Ted Hand Elected President Of Society Of Broadcast Engineers; Geary Morrill Elected Secretary

The Society of Broadcast Engineers, the association for broadcast and multimedia technology professionals, announced the results of the 2023 election for the national board of directors. Ted D. Hand, CPBE, 8-VSB, AMD, ATSC3, DRB, was elected to his first one-year term as president, which will commence on Sept. 28, 2023.

WXSP to Air Grand Valley State Football

Grand Valley State athletics has announced that three of its 2023 football games will be live on WXSP-TV.  WXSP-TV will serve as the exclusive live in-market television partner for the Lakers. The slate of games on WXSP-TV will begin with the home opener set for Saturday, September. 9.

WFDF-AM Flips to Sports

August 18, 2023

Adell Broadcasting has flipped the format of its WFDF-AM (Detroit) from talk to fulltime sports featuring ESPN Radio programming.  Station staffers were told of the change on August 11. Station staffers were told of the change on Friday afternoon (Aug. 11) via email.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
